The Ulmus pumila cultivar 'Aurescens' originated in the National Arboretum, Zöschen, near Merseburg, Germany. The tree was first mentioned by Georg Dieck [2] in Neuheiten-Offerten, Nat. - Arb. Zöschen, Germany, 1894-95, as U. pinnato-ramosa f. aurescens [1].
